Winnie Tam, Ph.D.

Director of Preclinical Research and Pharmacology

Dr. Tam is an accomplished scientific leader with more than 15 years of professional experience in biomedical research and drug development.  She received her M.Sc. in Bioinformatics and Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology/Immunology from Brandeis University and did her postdoctoral training at MIT and Harvard. She has research experience across a variety of disciplines, including oncology, immunology, microbiology, virology, hematology and stem cell biology.  Her expertise includes high throughput combination drug screening, bioinformatics, biomarker, assay development and in vivo mouse model development. Before joining Avastus, Dr. Tam held positions at Verastem, Inc. and Horizon Discovery, Inc. (aka Zalicus, Inc/ Combinatorx Inc.), where she led multi-disciplinary teams and served as a liaison for many  collaborative/contract projects with major pharmaceutical companies and start-ups and successfully advanced projects from proof-of-concept research to IND enabling studies and clinical trials.  Dr. Tam has published more than 15  peer-reviewed scientific papers in top-tier biomedical journals.



Andreas  brings over 25 years experience as the top finance and operations manager at a number of small companies in the Boston/Cambridge area. He had lengthy stints in retail, distribution and publishing prior to coming to biotech in 2007, where he was Director of Finance at Cellay, Inc. and Phylonix Pharmaceuticals before joining Avastus in May 2015. Special areas of expertise include NIH Grant Accounting, ERPs, workplace technology and contracts, but he is a jack of all trades who will tackle any complex problem.

Michael Aceti


Most recently, he was Senior Director at Genzyme, where he held roles in finance and commercial operations. Prior to Genzyme, Mr. Aceti was CFO of Innosight, a consulting firm founded by Harvard Business School Professor and author Clayton Christensen, as well as Vice President of Finance at GenRad. He received a B.A. in Economics at Saint Lawrence University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategy at the University of Chicago.
